I lied to you That’s not my first test run, I’ve installe neovim in 2024 and got discouraged by the setup and by the fact that the basic movements (even hjkl) were completely foreign to my hands (addin 2 new layers of stuff on top of the most basic thing ever, typing, seemed somewhat useless and pretty discouraging since I could feel the friction between toughts and my hands executing actions). The problem Most of the shortcuts made in vim are actually made for the English language. And transferring them to a foreign keyboard makes them, well, kind of dumb (my take anyway). If you’ve ever tried to write code on an Italian keyboard, you know the pain. Want a backslash? That’s AltGr + ù. Curly braces? AltGr + Shift combinations. And the forward slash, which you use constantly in vim for searching, is hiding on Shift + 7. Every single day I was reaching for modifier keys just to type basic programming symbols. ...
